Giovanni Pompetti is a film editor and visual effects artist based in New York and Rome.

Graduated in Editing and Visual Effects from Roma Film Academy, Giovanni moved to New York where he started to work as VFX artist and assistant online editor at PostFactory NY (currently SIM). In 2014 he co-founded Wrong Way Pictures, a production company based in Brooklyn where he leads the post-production department. While working on short films, music videos and commercials for Wrong Way Pictures, in 2015 Giovanni works on his first feature film as lead editor If Only I Were That Warrior directed by Valerio Ciriaci winning “Must See” at 56th Festival dei Popoli and the Italian Golden Globe for Best Documentary.

After two years working as an editor for short form at VICE Media, Giovanni went back to Italy to edit the NETFLIX film La Partita directed by Francesco Carnesecchi.

In 2019 Giovanni worked as an assistant editor (responsible also for assembling and VFX editing, working closely with the director) on the HBO show The New Pope by the Academy Award-winning director Paolo Sorrentino.

In 2020 Giovanni worked as an associate editor with the Academy Award-winning editor Zach Staenberg on the feature film American Night, directed by Alessio Della Valle.

Giovanni's works include feature and short films that have been selected at Festival Dei Popoli, Italian Golden Globes, Berlin International Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, Locarno Film Festival, Mill Valley Film Festival, Palm Beach International Film Festival, Lincoln Center, Rooftop Film Festival.

His commercial work includes clients such as HBO, CBS, Condé Nast TLC, MTV, PBS, Trojan, Chanel, Hard Rock Cafè, Puma, Calvin Klein
